My Passion Projects - A Ravissante Love Story

There are currently 2 passion projects that I am involved in right now. The first one is Anti-Aging with Ravissante, a weekly CSR (corporate social responsibility) workshop conducted at SECITA -- - Senior Citizen's Association of Selangor and Federal Territory, where we make senior citizen's look and feel young:

And the other is me teaching Business Ethics and Corporate Citizenship to students at BERJAYA University College of Hospitality.

I am thankful and blessed to be able to be near seniors and youth, and to be involved to make a difference.

Last semester (April-August 2013) was the first time I taught at BERJAYA UCH, and with 153 students in total. I made them go out an do a CSR project for the charity of their choice. I am so proud that the students (on their own, mind you) raised a total of RM14000++ and benefitted 28 different charities.

I was also blessed to see that the students are able to take charge, apply whatever they have learnt and pay forward the seeds that I have sowed in them. There are many projects worth mentioning. One such project was a Fine Dining luncheon lead by the students from Diploma in Culinary Arts, together with the students from Diploma in Hospitality Management for SECITA, while raising funds for Ti-Ratana Welfare Society. This team of students raised RM2800 for Ti-Ratana. An amazing feat.

The event was run and organised entirely by students, headed by Chef in Making, Alex Chia Sheng Da and his team from Diploma of Culinary Arts; while the service team was headed by Chew Qing Ting and her team from Diploma of Hospitality Management. They offered a delicious starter, main course (with choice of beef, chicken, lamb and fish) and dessert for an affordable price of only RM28! Imagine that! How nice for SECITA members to be able to gather together, have a feast and be served like kings and queens!

In order to make this event a success, the students managed to secure sponsors for the event. Event was sponsored by
- Mr and Mrs Ong Boon Beng (parents of Diploma in Culinary Art student Ong Sze Lin)
- Teong Chuan Plastic (M) Sdn Bhd (http://www.teongchuan.com/)
- Sri Utama Auto Sdn Bhd (http://www.honda.com.my/dealers/details/4/11)
- Mr Steven Thaw
- Clean Living Marketing Sdn Bhd (http://www.everydaybrush.com/contact.html)

Food Sponsored by Blue Pacific Fine Foods Sdn Bhd (parents of Diploma in Culinary Arts student Alex Chia Shend Da) (http://directory.stclassifieds.sg/malaysia-directory/blue+pacific+fine+foods+sdn+bhd/businesslisting/262682/)
Tableware sponsored by Globalasia Concepts Sdn Bhd (www.globalasia.com.my)
Wine sponsored by Ravissante Beauty Sdn Bhd (www.ravissante.com.my)

SECITA members, came and truly enjoyed themselves. And that, put a smile on our faces too! The students worked very hard. The kitchen team was there the day before to setup and since 7am in the morning of the event, and stayed till 6pm; just to complete and clean a lunch service that was from 12.00-2.00pm. Imagine all that work!

Another team organized a Basketball Tournament for Charity, benefitting 2 orphanages Rumah Awan Murni and Agape Home; raising close to RM4000. They too managed to get a host of sponsors.

I have learnt to never underestimate students. Its true. They've put a smile to many faces, and help enriched many souls. Some of them went the extra mile to create videos/blog for their charities; creating awareness for them even after the students have finished their Business Ethics course with me. They have left a legacy, and a blueprint for themselves, their charities and for me.

In our short time together, many of the students have improved on their writing and presentation skills. Most of them have started being more confident in articulating their thoughts tactfully.

I remember many years ago, I asked myself if I could do anything I want in this world, what would it be? What is my dream? My answer: To Touch Lives and Build Dreams.

Knowing that I have created an impact and made a difference to their train of thought... that to me, is truly priceless. Teaching at BERJAYA UCH is a remarkable experience for me. I learn something new every day. Having my students all share it with me, makes me truly blessed. Thank you all for allowing me to be part of your lives.

My dear students:

Your time has come to shine. This is the beginning of many good things to come. Believe in yourselves. You can do anything you want to do, and achieve all that you have ever dreamed. With the right skills and right action; you will change your world.

Your ethics are your foundation. Your thoughts are your guide, and your action will be the determining factor of your success. All the best to all of you. I know you will make me proud.

Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

Luv,
Jane
