Fusion Beauty Spa for Wholesome Goodness

"Fusion Beauty Spa for Wholesome Goodness" was the title of the article written about us by Philip Ho, on 6 July 2011 at Klik4Malaysia.com

Unfortunately this article has already been removed and the site is currently under construction.

Its still nice to re-read articles written about Ravissante The Beauty Shop (for me, at least!) The writer has a very good flair for weaving the right words together for a delightful read! (Thank you Philip Ho!) And I think it was very well written; so here I'll share with you the contents of that article.

Fusion is the in thing today, the merging of two or more distinct practices into creating something new and wholesome.

Enter Ravissante, the beauty spa that has combined all the elements of beauty care, relaxation and healthcare into a holistic approach for a zen-like experience where it combines the technology and products of the west with healthy and wholesome practices of the east.

Klik4Malaysia (K4M) spoke to Jane Teh, the beauty and the brains behind this unique concept to find out how Ravissante addresses the three most wicked enemy of women - aging, stress and the unholy trinity of bad health (physical, mental and emotional)

Timeless Beauty

"A good skin care regimen can slow down the aging process because dehydration could set in as early as 25 years of age. You can actually begin skin hydration regiments form as young as 20 years old. The important thing is to find a product that is suitable for your skin, and be consistent with your skin care regiment for long-lasting results," she told K4M during an exclusive interview.

When asked to comment on the difference between (beauty) salon brands and over-the-counter (OTR) brands of skin care products, Teh revealed that the difference was in the quality of the raw materials used for the salon brands.

"You seldom see salon brands like Ella Bache spend huge advertising dollars to promote their brands as they prefer to use the money to invest in research and development for optimum product quality," she said, adding that Ravissante utilizes the full range of Ella Bache products.

When asked about the type of skin that most Malaysian women possess, Teh revealed that it is often a combination of an oilt T-zone (forehead and nose) and dry cheeks.

"For women who use makeup, it is very important that you remove all of your makeup before you go to bed. This is to ensure that it doesn't accumulate over time together with other impurities, clogging up your pores, which could lead to skin irritation or poor skin health," she added.

"When choosing skin care products, especially for the face, it is important to maintain a good balance of water, oil and PH balance for optimum effect. A good combination of cleanser, mild scrub (for daily use), toner and moisturizer can do wonders before you go to sleep at night. When you wake up in the morning to go to work, remember to use UV protection and skin whitening cream," said Teh.

"Do not ever stinge on sunblock, because aging spots (dead skin cells due to over exposure to the sun) are very hard to remove. Our forehead and our cheeks are most prone to aging spots so it is imperative that you use at least a SPF15-25 on workdays and maybe a SPF50 for prolonged outdoor activities", she added.

She then said that it is easy to find suitable skin care products without the hassle and horror of trial and error which could lead to breakouts, rash or dry skin.

"Utilize the testers available to do a patch test. Apply a little of the cream or lotion either behind the ear or on the back of your hand. If your skin turns red, the product is not for you. The results are almost instantaneous," she explained.

A good night's sleep is also an important step for good skin care as the skin, being the largest organ of the human body, requires rest and time to rejuvenate itself after a day of battling pollution and the harmful UV rays of the sun.

Frequent late nights, regardless if you are out partying or just watching TV until the wee hours of the morning, does not bode well for your skin unless you dont mind adding another few years of age to your look!

"Drink more water to stay hydrated in this hot and humid weather and you should be fine. Fruits and juices also does wonders to your body. For those who are battling with chapped lips, drink a little bit more soup, as the salt content in the soup helps," Teh said.

Soak Away Your Stress

There are approximately 6 million (48%) women in Malaysia's 12.7 million work force where stress could inflict a tremendous amount of damage to the mind, body and spirit, often leading to a total burnout and emotional carnage.

As the working life slowly chips away at your personal time, you may find yourself missing gym sessions or aerobics classes or yoga classes.

If you are unable to find time to exercise and release all the pent up bad energy accumulating in the body, there is only one other way to de-stress, and it is not partying till you drop.

Indulge yourself in a relaxing bath and just soak for a good 15 to 20 minutes and you will find yourself surprisingly calm, relaxed and refreshed. Now you know why baths and the onsen (hot springs) are so popular in Japan!

If your feet is killing you after a long day of strutting around in those gorgeous high heels and you do not have the luxury of soaking in a bath tub at home, you can still soak your feet in warm water between 10 to 15 minutes to help your feet relax.

For those who rely on shopping or food binging as stress-relief therapy, here is a new option for you ladies out there - pamper yourself to a body scrub followed by a refreshing and rejuvenating bath!

"We have a full range of bath series that would cater to all your relaxation needs. Our special combination of specific bath salts and aromatherapy oil designed for the best effects in mind," said Teh.

Bamboo Cupping Massage

Cupping therapy is an ancient medical treatment that relies upon creating a local suction to mobilize blood flow in order to promote healing.

It was recorded that China had started bamboo cupping therapy as early as 1,000 B.C. and many Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners still practice cupping therapy today.

"This is what set us apart from other beauty spas. Our Bamboo Cupping Massage is a practice that was passed down through the ages for it is an extremely effective and non-invasive method of physical healing," Teh said.

"Our body absorbs a lot of moisture and 'coldness' and wind as we go about our daily routines, such as walking barefoot on marbles or tiles, taking cold showers, having cold drinks or ice cream on a hot day and so on. Once it accumulates, there is an imbalance in our body and if we do not expel all the moisture, coldness and wind from out body, we could experience muscle ache and joint pains later on," she explained.

She said that the cupping therapy is a form of deep tissue massage unlike any other conventional massages, adding that it is very targeted and effective form of massage as you can feel the difference immediately after the 30-minute session.

"We have designed our beauty spa around a holistic concept to provide the best form of healthy self-indulgence for women of all ages at an affordable price. In today's fast-paced society, beauty spa is no longer a luxury but a necessity as you need to relax and recharge yourself for new challenges in the workplace," said Teh.
