Choosing the right products for your skin

There are many many products in the market today. So many that sometimes, it becomes confusing what products to buy for our skin. How do you choose the right products for your skin? What is the best product for that best possible result? Where should you buy your products from? Pharmacies? Salons? Counters at shopping malls? Supermarkets?

Confusing, I know.

No two skins are alike. A good product will serve its purpose and give you good results. The right product for you will do wonders for your skin.  It will give you smaller pores, better hydration, softer and smoother skin. The wrong products will have adverse results on your skin. Poorer hydration, pimples, rashes, or worse... burnt skin.

Before you purchase a product, it is important to do these 2 things:

1. Find out more information about it. If you cant find information about it, something is wrong.

2. What are the ingredients? If the ingredients are not listed, something is wrong. Brands from Europe have a strict ingredient standard, and must publish the product’s ingredients on the packaging.

3. If its gimmicky, and sounds too good to be true without any solid proof to back it up, it probably is

Some products contain toxic chemicals which are hazardous to your skin in the long term. Examples of toxic chemicals are synthetic fragrances, urea and petrochemicals. Some products, although claimed to be an European product, could be an OEM manufactured at our own backyard. God knows what they put into those products or what kind of damages it can do to your skin. Best be safe than sorry.

So while choosing the right products for your skin, I would advise you to:

1.    Determine your skin type (oily, dry, blemished, normal, combination, matured)

2.    Determine what results do you want to achieve (reduce wrinkles, anti aging, purifying)

3.    SPEAK TO A SKIN CARE CONSULTANT

4.    Patch test product on your skin – if the product is not right for you there will be an immediate reaction

5.    The right product will help improve your skin.

6.    If the product gives and adverse reaction, then best to change products.
